The commercials for Super Mario Kart Double Dash have just been released to the public (I presume they go on air pretty soon too). They involve a member of the hugely popular multi-million-selling band SMAP (well, they're famous in Japan anyway).

The amusing thing is, this particular member of the five member band was caught in 2001 for racing away from police as they tried to pull him over to ask him for his license.

I don't think the irony of the words he begins the commercial with, "To speed is a man's dream", is lost on the Japanese public at all.
